Integrity uber alles

If the NFL thought that the referees they are trying to rob of their pensions are would be  replaced easily, I think they know better by now. (See above, where one referee is signaling touchdown while the other says it’s am interception.)

As painful as the first three weeks of this season have been, it will be worth it if the smug, greedy bastards behind the farce that is the season so far get their comeuppance.

Of course, insulated as they are from any financial pressures, it’s hard to know if Roger Goodell and the owners will ever feel any shame.

Of course, since the fake refs just cost Green Bay a win (and gifted one to Seattle), some smart owners might realize that the puny $3 million dollars that this is about isn’t worth it.

To be fair, of course, there were so many blown calls in this game it’s hard to know who would have won if it had been competently officiated. All we know is that, when it counted, the refs were abysmal.

Packer’s guard T.J. Lang summed it up in two tweets:

Got f—- by the refs.. Embarrassing. Thanks nfl.

F—- it NFL.. Fine me and use the money to pay the regular refs.

Time for the charade to end. Players should threaten to strike – the games are a farce, and someone’s going to get hurt, at which point a lawyer could argue that the league was grossly negligent in depriving players of a safe work environment. I hope that doesn’t happen, but please, if it does, let me attend that deposition.
